Description

The entire business district of Reedley was destroyed in a disastrous fire the morning of 11 August 1902. The Fresno Morning Republican newspaper reported the following day how the fire broke out at approximately 12:45 in the morning starting in a Chinese restaurant called Ah Sam. The fire burned for two hours and the flames could be seen in Fresno twenty five miles away. There was speculation in the press this fire was an act of arson. The estimated loss was $70,000.
