Description

Bales of cotton lint lined up for shipment in front of the Kingsburg Cotton Oil Company. The company is located at 1825 Marion Street in Kingsburg supplying cottonseed, meal and hulls. The first cotton in the Kingsburg area appeared in the early 1920s. By 1958 Fresno County produced cotton valued at over $82 million. The rapid development of the cotton industry brought the Kingsburg Cotton Oil Company to Kingsburg in 1938 taking over the abandoned California Peach and Fig Association Building. The lint from the seed is packed in bales and shipped to furniture manufacturers and other industries while the meal is compressed and sold under the firm's own brand for cattle feed.
