Description

A formal dining house in 1930's Fresno, the New Shanghai Cafe, located at 1538 Tulare Street in Fresno. Annotation on the card indicates "delicious Chinese foods." The individual in the picture is probably Kenneth Chu listed in the Fresno City Directory as the manager. The restaurant first appears in the city directory in 1933 and appears for the last time in 1940. Advertisement in the 1939 city directory announced "American and Chinese dishes, dancing every night, best food in the city, open 11 AM to 3 AM."
