Intersection of 4th and C streets in Coalinga, California, after a winter storm on 25 January 1914. The headline of the 26 January 1914 Fresno Morning Republican read "Cloudburst at Fresno, Citizens Guard Levees, River Bottom Danger." The Kings River was reported at highest point in 50 years. The paper reported rainfall of "over half an inch falling in less than an hour between 2 and 3 p.m." The 27 January 1914 Fresno Morning Republican reported the highest water level since the great flood of the 1860s with "Untold damage to County bridges".
