Description

Fountain erected in Fresno's Courthouse Park by Oscar J. Woodward in 1921 in memory of his deceased wife Anna Woodward. Mr. Woodward came to Fresno in 1885 from Clinton, Illinois and became one of the leading financiers of the San Joaquin Valley, prominent in real estate and banking. He served as president of the First National Bank of Fresno for thirty years and continued to serve in an executive capacity after the bank merged with Bank of Italy, now Bank of America. He married Anna Ludolph on 12 October 1875 in Kenny, DeWitt County, Illinois.
