Description
Built in 1872, this home of George McCullough, pioneer lumberman, is reportedly the first residence in Fresno. Housing was scarce during Fresno's early years. Homes built during the 1870s were little more than simple frame cottages. Construction became more elaborate after the 1880s. It is known that William Betteridge built Fresno's first brick home in 1882, with five rooms and a big bay window.
