Description
Picture of Millerton Elementary School, located 4 miles east of Friant road, Calif. Constructed in Western Stick architectural style. In 1907 the structure was moved from the Ferguson Ranch, east of Millerton, to this location. It was abandoned in 1944 and subsequently demolished. The Millerton District was created in 1860 and was one of the three earliest school districts established in Fresno County. It annexed the Pollasky District in 1894 and the Thermal District in 1907, and merged with the Auberry and Big Sandy districts in 1947 to form the Auberry Union District, which later became part of the Sierra Unified School District.
