Description

Picture of Monroe Elementary School, built in 1922 at the intersection of Chestnut and Nebraska avenues near Caruthers, Calif. Neoclassical architectural elements. This was the third schoolhouse to occupy the site. The Monroe District was created in 1885, and began sending its graduates to the Caruthers Union High School in 1918.
