The schoolhouse was the second to be constructed on the site, in 1913, and replaced an earlier building which was damaged by fire. Western Stick architectural elements. It featured brick veneer on its exterior, two rooms, oiled wooden floors, and was heated by a natural gas furnace. The building continued in use until 1955, when operations were shifted to the Indianola Union School, and was demolished sometime in the 1960s. The Walnut District was created in 1881, merged with the Fruitvale District to form the Indianola Union District in 1950, and later merged in turn with the Selma Unified School District in 1967.",,"1 Photographic print :b&w ;6 x 8 cm.","San Joaquin Valley Library System","ca 1925","Fresno County Public Library","This image is being made available for educational and research purposes only, under the “fair use” clause of the U.S. Copyright Law (Title 17 § 107 U.S.C.)
