The Barton Opera House and Armory Hall sat majestically on the north east corner of Fulton and Fresno Streets. It opened in 1890 and was condemned in 1917. In its prime, the Barton Opera House with seating for 1500 was the place for many social gatherings. It hosted traveling shows as well as local productions and many community events, high school graduations, etc. It was built by Robert Barton, a prominent vineyardist.
