Exeter, Calif., received its library building -- approximately 50' x 28' -- in 1916, as a gift of the Andrew Carnegie Foundation. The library cost $5,000 to build.
Mrs. Ina Hawkins, pictured here, was the custodian when this September 23, 1942 photo was taken in front of the Ducor branch of the Tulare County Library system.
With a very dim sign above the front door stating this was a "Reading Room," Ducor, Calif., boasted an official branch library in the Tulare County Library system. This photo is undated, but followed the library's location in the Women's Club…
