The Inter Se Club of Porterville was one of the first of the ladies clubs and was involved in the local culture and helped in the starting of the library.

The Porterville Fire Department was founded in 1890. The fire house was built on the northwest corner of Main street and Cleveland street. The fire house faced Main Street.

This is a photo of Sarthou Chop house, Burford's store and the Review office. The Review was a weekly newspaper owned by the Eckel brothers.

This was the main work area in the granite quarry. In the foreground are the air machines that chipped off the granite and squared the blocks. The quarry closed in 1941
