Description
An account of the resource
A possible tour group inside Boyden Cavern. Boyden Cavern is a limestone cave located in the 8,000 feet deep Kings River Canyon between Grants Grove and Cedar Grove in the Sequoia National Forest. The cave was discovered by J.P. Boyden, a logger and prospector financed by Denver S. Church, a Fresno attorney. The two filed claim to a large tract that included Boyden along with several other limestone caves. The Church-Boyden system is considered one of the most extensive cave systems in California. Boyden and Church were the first to investigate the caves in the Kings Canyon region about 1908. The Boyden Cave was developed commercially in 1939-1942.
