Title

Fresno County Assessor Photo Project

A sampling of the photos of residences and businesses around Fresno County in the 1960s. This was done prior to big redevelopment activities and building of Highway 41, 168 and 180.

Description

The photo collection consists primarily of photos taken in the mid 1960s, with a few stretching into the 1950s and the 1970s or later. This time frame covers several significant moments in the County's history, including the County Centennial (1956), City of Fresno diamond jubilee (1960), the opening of the Fulton Mall, and the naming of the City of Fresno as an All-American City in 1967. It also captured the essence of the County's smaller communities prior to their rapid expansion, and the disasters of the 1983 Coalinga earthquake and 2020 Creek Fire.
Photos are arranged by APN and through our fantastic volunteers, there is a database linking APN's to addresses. A total of 21,036 sheets of photos (approximately 100,000 individual photos) have been scanned and linked to more than 112,000 addresses.
