Description

George Rupert's 2 story frame home with wrap around porch was built in 1889 at the corner of L and Tuolumne. Mr. Rupert came to Stockton, California in 1871. There he farmed , had a wine and club room, and owned a trotting horse. In 1881, he sold out and moved to Fresno. He opened a wine room on Front street that was burned out in the July 1882 fire that almost wiped out the town. He rebuilt and continued until retiring in 1890.
