Lying in a pile of hay in this October 7, 1895, photo taken at Stone Corral in Tulare County, CA, is mortally wounded John Sontag, a captured bandit. Possee member, left to right, are: Samuel Stingley, Hiram Rapelje, Luke Hall, George Witty, William English, Thomas Burns, George Gard, Joseph P. Carroll, and Harry Stewart. On that date, Burns shot Witty in the hand in a quarrel over the reward for Sontag's arrest, while on a moving train near Glendale, CA.
