Mariposa Street from Courthouse
This is a postcard photo taken by Maxwell and Mudge Photography taken sometime between 1898-1914. The photo was taken from the Fresno County courthouse showing the westward view of Mariposa Street and K Street (now Van Ness Ave).

The Fresno Photo Theatre was located at 1130 J Street in between Mariposa and Fresno Streets. It was built on the land that had been occupied by the Grand Central Stables. It was built sometime after 1906.

Barton Opera House
Built in 1889-1890 by Robert Barton a local vineyardist, the Barton Opera House was a state of the art theater facility. The Opera House had a capacity of 1600 seats. The building was located at the corner of Fresno and J(Fulton) Street.
