Photo shows Myrtle Ferguson, her husband Andrew (Andy) Ferguson, and their son Clarence. Andrew Ferguson was known as the founder of Oildale, purchasing a large tract of land and building the first building there in 1910. Andrew Ferguson was born in Canada, came to the United States in 1895, and settled in Kern County, California, in 1898. He and his wife had 3 sons--Clarence of Bremerton, Washinton; Emery of New York; Merrill of Porterville, California--and a daughter, Mrs. Hattie Simpson of Bakersfield. During his life, Andrew Ferguson worked as a storekeeper and an engineer for Peerless Oil Company. His son Merrill was born in 1898, in New York. Andrew Ferguson retired at age 54 in 1925; he died at age 64 in 1935 (February 11). Myrtle Ferguson was born in Tehachapi, California.
